چکیده

Contour-based object detection can be formulated as a matching problem between model contour parts and image edge fragments. We propose a novel solution by treating this problem as the problem of finding dominant sets in weighted graphs. The nodes of the graph are pairs composed of model contour parts and image edge fragments, and the weights between nodes are based on shape similarity. Because of high consistency between correct correspondences, the correct matching corresponds to a dominant set of the graph. Consequently, when a dominant set is determined, it provides a selection of correct correspondences. As the proposed method is able to get all the dominant sets, we can detect multiple objects in an image in one pass. Moreover, since our approach is purely based on shape, we also determine an optimal scale of target object without a common enumeration of all possible scales. Both theoretic analysis and extensive experimental evaluation illustrate the benefits of our approach. & 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Contours Extraction Using Line Detection and Zernike Moment

Most of the contour detection methods suffers from some drawbacks such as noise, occlusion of objects, shifting, scaling and rotation of objects in image which they suppress the recognition accuracy. To solve the problem, this paper utilizes Zernike Moment (ZM) and Pseudo Zernike Moment (PZM) to extract object contour features in all situations such as rotation, scaling and shifting of object i...

Precise Object Contour Detection Using Variable Block-based Video Foreground Segmentation in Transform Domain

A precise object contour detection based on foreground segmentation in a video sequence is proposed. Our method employs a set of block-based Gaussian mixture models (GMM) on different block sizes, followed by foreground object contour extraction, which is based on Walsh transform (WT) domain. Every background model has different spatial and temporal correlations, and exploits WT-based feature p...

Localizing Polygonal Objects in Man-Made Environments

Object detection is a significant challenge in Computer Vision and has received a lot of attention in the field. One such challenge addressed in this thesis is the detection of polygonal objects, which are prevalent in man-made environments. Shape analysis is an important cue to detect these objects. We propose a contour-based object detection framework to deal with the related challenges, incl...

A simple scheme for contour detection

We present a computationally simple and general purpose scheme for the detection of all salient object contours in real images. The scheme is inspired by the mechanism of surround influence that is exhibited in 80% of neurons in the primary visual cortex of primates. It is based on the observation that the local context of a contour significantly affects the global saliency of the contour. The ...
